Overview

Our client, a large US multinational company, is looking to hire a Global VAT Controller that will be reporting to the Global Indirect Tax Director. The controller’s responsibility is to ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles / international financial reporting standards, as well as cash management and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Manager of Regional Indirect Tax Compliance & Reporting to ensure the GL VAT accounts reconciliation process is followed by the external service provider in a timely and correct manner during process transition (parallel phase) and after ‘go-live’ ensuring 100% compliance in accordance with company policies 
  • Report to Senior Management on the account’s reconciliation status globally, the proposed write-offs, unreconciled accounts, VAT reserves 
  • Monitor the VAT receivables positions globally and coordinate with the VAT team on actions to be taken 
  • Support the Global Tax Leadership Team in further eSMART tax dashboard enhancement & KPIs reporting 
  • Support assigned tax projects incl. optimization/redesign of existing processes and document flows 
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of VAT payments/collections 

People & Organization: 

  • Cooperate effectively with peer colleagues from other regions ensuring alignment and best practice sharing 
  • Support integration with external service providers, Global Business Service Centers, local business finance, and other internal stakeholders; – Act as an internal focal point for coordinating the provision of information to internal & external auditors for the annual statutory audits 

Must have

  • Master’s Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance 
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in an indirect/direct tax function in the industry or ideally in a multinational corporation or Big4 consultancy company 
  • International GAAP/IFRS knowledge 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint) 
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and planning skills 
  • Ability to think analytically & problem-solving skills 
  • Strong ability to cooperate with people from various hierarchy levels and cultural backgrounds 
  • Team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude 
  • Ability to work ethically 

Nice to have

  • Local GAAP, IFRS, and U.S. GAAP knowledge is a plus
  • ERP systems practical knowledge (inc. SAP and Oracle), Navision, iScala, Mentor, Baan
