Overview

Our client is one of the most recognizable names in the automotive industry, and they are looking for a senior customs specialist responsible for all UK matters. Flexibility and a can-do attitude is required as this role will be responsible for maintaining a strong customs compliance presence in the UK. Their strategic ambitions include design/improvement, broker management, cost reduction, internal auditing, and compliance assurance relating to import and export activities in Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, and other relevant countries.

And apart from the occasional trip to a site in the home country (maybe once every two to three weeks), the role can be done remotely within the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an efficient and timely customs operation covering all imports and exports
  • Secure prompt and compliant clearance of parts arrivals in the UK to facilitate the expedient onward journey
  • Act as a key liaison with HMRC to secure compliant operating procedures in line with UK government requirements
  • Secure compliant use of trade agreements and customs procedures to deliver on our ambition of zero wasted duties
  • Implement an internal audit and reporting processes to secure continuous compliance with all customs regulatory requirements
  • Provide the Global Customs and Export Controls team with full visibility over activities in the UK and demonstrated control of the business

Must have

UK Customs expertise backed up with relevant hands-on experience
Proven track record of turning insights into action
Ability to figure out processes to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement
The ability to lead and work in a multi-skilled diverse team and have an agile attitude
Situational adaptability in an environment with shifting demands
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to have

Project Management skills and experience
Familiarity with MIC Customs application
Understanding of data analytics (Power BI, Tableau)
