What is an FTA? In simple terms, a free trade agreement is a treaty; specifically, an agreement on terms of trade; between two or more countries. Why should we have FTA’s? There are many advantages of free trade agreements which include encouraging company productivity, attaining higher quality goods for lower prices, lower government spending which can then be used elsewhere and promoting international integration.

Identifying these agreements in a business also has a huge impact on reducing costs. Companies are hiring professionals in this area to specifically map out and ensure that FTA’s are utilized across a business. Traditionally, organisations hired professionals into broad Trade Compliance roles, which included free trade agreements, however, we are seeing the demand for pure FTA experts constantly increase.
